The Rosenblatt-Michigan Award is the University of Michigan, the College of Engineering and the Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering’s Annual Alumni Recognition of outstanding professional achievements, integrity and devotion to excellence and innovation in ship design. The award is presented in appreciation of Lester Rosenblatt’s enduring interest in the welfare of the University of Michigan, the College of Engineering, and the Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. This annual award honors the names of its first recipient, Lester Rosenblatt, a 1942 graduate of the Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and his father, Mandell, an eminent naval architect before him. Recipients of the Award are selected based on their emulation of Mandell and Lester Rosenblatt’s admirable examples. Richard will accept this award at the annual University of Michigan Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Alumni Dinner on Friday, Sept. 29, 2023, at the conclusion of the SNAME Maritime Convention (SMC) in San Diego, California.
Of the award, McCreary says, “I am extremely honored to be the recipient of the prestigious 2023 Rosenblatt-Michigan Award. It is doubly meaningful to me because (1) my education at Michigan gave me the strong technical foundation for my career advancements and (2) I have had the privilege of working closely with the Bruce Rosenblatt firm on many different projects over many years.”
