President and Managing Director at Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind LLC.
United States Naval Academy BSE ’00, UM NAME MSE ’09, UM NAME MBA ’09, UM NAME Ph.D. ’10

FIRST JOB OUT OF UNDERGRAD:
Special Operations Officer in the US Navy

MOST MEANINGFUL CAREER PROJECT:
1.) Leader of a bomb squad in Iraq because it was very exciting, I had the opportunity to lead some very capable Sailors in combat and save some lives along the way!

2.) Champion for renewables at ExxonMobil because it was largely self-directed and is having an impact on one of the largest Corporations in the world, and eventually perhaps the world in general!

HOW DO YOU USE YOUR DEGREE IN EVERYDAY LIFE?
Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering has been very helpful in understanding complex systems. The Ph.D., in particular, has given me an approach to breaking down and solving very hard problems, both technical and commercial.

WHY ARE YOU PASSIONATE ABOUT YOUR WORK?
I really enjoy the opportunity to work on many different problems around the world. I also enjoy working with a large, capable company and helping chart its future path.

ADVICE FOR STUDENTS:
It’s a small area to study, but impactful. You won’t regret your choice as the NAME major will prepare you for roles in the marine industry and beyond.
