We are happy to report that the $4.1 million renovation of the NAME building is nearly complete.

The scope of the project included the renovation of 8,400 square feet of key spaces, including classroom 138, restrooms, the lounge, and the Undergraduate Marine Design Lab (UGMDL). Additionally, the corridors and the two main interior entrances received a fresh new look. This upgrade also addressed both much-needed maintenance and included the installation of fire suppression sprinklers on the second floor.

A Long-Awaited Transformation

This renovation marks the first major update to the NAME Building since its original construction in the 1960s. After more than 50 years of service, it was time to give the building a makeover to keep up with evolving educational goals. The new look and updated infrastructure are expected to catch attention and generate buzz around the department with completely remodeled restrooms and the installation of a WINDOW in classroom 138!
